Suspected Dealer Busted With Coke, Fentanyl During Traffic Stop In St. Mary's County: Sheriff

Authorities say that a traffic stop led to the arrest of a St. Mary's County man who now faces drug and weapon charges.

Lexington Park resident Michael Lashawn Johnson, 35, was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon when detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office executed a series of search and seizure warrants on him and the Hyundai Genesis he was driving.

During a search of Johnson's vehicle following the stop, investigators found "quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl indicative of possession with the intent to distribute," according to the sheriff's office.

He was also in possession of ammunition, which is is prohibited from having due to a previous conviction. 

Johnson was arrested and taken to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where he was charged with: 

  • Two counts of possession with the intent to distribute;
  • Two counts of CDS Possession: Not cannabis;
  • Illegal possession of ammunition.
